Addition to the previous stories
Fisrt of all I’d like to add something to the article ‘Christmas in Hungary.’
In Hungary the children believe Baby Jesus brings the Christmas tree and the presents. In my family, when we were younger, my Grandma used to take us to the movie on December 24th, early afternoon. By the time we got home the tree was in the living room with the presents beautifully wrapped underneath it. We did not know that our parents decorated the house and bought the presents.
In Hungary we leave the tree up until January 6th (Epiphany), even if there is no more needles left on the tree. It’s bad luck to take the tree down before that day.
In the article ‘Hungary’ the correct saying is: Kellemes Karacsonyi Unnepeket es Boldog Uj Evet!
Just a little correction in the article ‘A month before Christmas in Hungary’. The chestnuts are not fried they are grilled over open flame.
