Many people in Australia have migrated here as adults, like I did. I have no family in Australia. At Christmas everybody who has family seems to spend Christmas with them, and they don’t often invite others.

I don’t usually know what to do at Christmas. Sometimes I “go bush” by myself. But it’s a bit sad. It always used to be a family time. Some people have an “orphan’s Christmas”, but you have to know someone who’s organising one.

Christmas is the common time of year for suicide in Australia.
