Childhood Memories Of Christmas

Childhood Memories Of Christmas
Drlingbrt1

I just wanted to say Thank You to Norchic and wish her the very happiest of Christmas’ and a bright and shiny New Year. The things that she wrote about brought the memories of my most treasured Christmases flooding back. I have never been to Norway, but my great-grandmother was born in Oslo and lived there until she was seventeen years old. Because of the strong ties that she had with who she was and where she came from, all of the Christmases of my childhood were filled with Norwegian traditions. The baking, the candy making, the walking around the Christmas tree to choose a gift. Sadly, my great-grandmother passed away when I was 9, followed by my mother when I was 11, and with them went the wonderful traditions that they brought to my life, along with all of the reciepes that they never wrote down because they knew them by heart. This year I am longing to recreate some of that “Special Magic” for my own children, but am at a loss because I don’t have the reciepes and my memories are a bit hazy with time. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate the help. Merry Christmas Everyone!!
