Christmas in Lebanon
I went to Lebanon with my parents when I was about 6 years old. They were Baptist missionaries. The thing I remember most about Christmas in Lebanon was how much the Lebanese people loved to visit with each other – it was almost a tradition to visit your friends and relatives during the holidays. We had many, many visitors during those holidays and they would always bring us gifts of fruit baskets or boxes of “gateaus” (French cakes) or “Arabic sweets”. To this day I can remember looking forward to that special time with our visitors and the special treats afterwards. Also, one year a friend of ours made a creche underneath our Christmas tree which was new to us. We have a picture of it as he spent many hours working on it. I have great memories of my years in Lebanon and will always treasure them.
