Finnish Kaffi Bulla

2 Cups of milk 7 – 8 cardamon seeds, shelled and pounded 1 Cups of sugar 1 Egg white 1/4 Cup of butter 1 Teaspoon of salt 10 1/2 Cups of sifted plain flour 2 packages of dry yeast 4 Whole eggs
Scald milk with butter or margarine and cool to lukewarm. Pour into large container; add yeast, cardamon, sugar, salt, beaten eggs, and egg white. Stir together. Gradually add 5 1/2 of flour and mix well with a wooden spoon. Cover with towel and let rise in a warm place until foamy. Stir dough down and gradually add remaining 5 cups of flour. Grease hands with butter and knead until dough doesn’t stick to hands, about 300 times. Grease top of dough and sides of container with vegetable oil. Cover and let rise until double in bulk. Knead again until smooth and elastic. Separate into 4 pieces. Take each piece and separate in 3 parts, elongate them, then braid. Bake in 6 x 10 Pyrex dishes. Bake 30 to 40 minutes in 350 oven. Top with melted butter when done.
