When I was a child we would celebrate by having a birthday party with a cake and candles for Jesus. As I grew up and now have my own children we carry on this tradition by buying a present for Jesus in the form of money to our church or buying presents for a poor family. Jesus is the center of our celebration; we do not acknowledge the Santa Claus side of it. We set up a nativity scene either at the base of our tree or instead of a tree. The tree is decorated with symbols that represent Christ, like the “Lamb of God”, “Emmanuel” (meaning God with us), the lion of the tribe of Judah”, the “Light of the world,” etc.
It is truly a time for joy in contemplating the greatest gift given to mankind. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”
