3/4 cup shortening 1 egg 1 tsp. cinnamon 2 tsp. soda 1 tsp. salt 3/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup molasses 2 and 1/4 cups flour 1/2 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. ginger
Cream shortening; add sugar gradually. Beat in egg and molasses. Add dry ingredients. Chilll dough 1 hour. Shape into walnut sized balls. Place on greased cookie sheet. Brush top with cold water. Sprinkle each cookie with white sugar. Bake at 375 deg. F. for 10 minutes.
