The country where I come from called The Netherlands Christmas is getting a bigger event every year. Usually family and friends come together to eat ech others ears of figurally speaking. And they also give each other presents who are getting more exspensive every year. I think that Christmas is not about how large your presents are but about caring for each other and remember that there are also people who are not as blessed as you are. We also celebrate Christmas for two whole days and I have no idea why that is because Christ was born on the 25th of December and not on both days. But that is something people made up over the years.
In the Netherlands we also have a celebration called Sinterklaas. That is especially for the children. On December fifth all the children get gifts from Sinterklaas because it is his birthday.
But because Christmas is getting more populair every year Sinterklaas gets to the background more and more.
But I still love Christmas very much even though it is becoming very commercial. It always gets me thinking about what I did this last year.
And this year it will also be a special Christmas because it is the last one of the millenium.
I hope you have enjoyed reading this story and I want to wish you a very merry Christmas and a great start in the year 2000!
Or as we Dutch people say PRETTIGE KERSTDAGEN EN EEN GELUKKIG NIEUWJAAR.
