Rabbit with Sour Cream

1 Disjointed rabbit Olive oil 1/2 Cup or more of port wine or good red wine Bacon grease 1 Cup of chopped onions 1 Teaspoon thyme 1 Teaspoon basil Salt and pepper Flour Sour cream
Rub the rabbit with the olive oil and moisten well with the wine. Let stand in this marinade for 4 hours. Drain and reserve the marinade. Brown the rabbit in bacon grease, add the onions and cook a few minutes very slowly. Sprinkle the rabbit with herbs, salt and pepper, then add the marinade. Cover tightly and bake slowly until the rabbit is tender, about 1 1/2 hours. Smooth in a little flour with the sauce, cook 1 or 2 minutes, then add 1/2 cup or more of sour cream and serve immediately.
