I´m Mexican from an Italian family three generations back. One custom we do keep from our Italian heritage is the apple covered in scented cloves that hangs in a special center place for the x´mas season like the chandelier…and every year you put that same apple in water to rehydrate and smell again.

The stuffed (turkey for us) chicken then…with parmesan cheese mixed with pork meat and beef and olives and “piñones”(those little pink pine nuts) and almonds altogether and then sliced …it is so good…now all my extended family makes this dish for x´mas eve dinner which normally is a very fancy dinner at home. I would love to spend a Christmas in Sicily one day… but this is part of what we keep.
