GOSIA

WE CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS EVE BY NOT EATING MEAT ALL DAY. WE HAVE A 7 COURSE MEAL CONSISTING OF BEANS, FISH, VEGETABLES AND A VAST ARRAY OF CHRISTMAS DESSERTS.

WE ALSO SHARE A POLISH WAFER BREAD CALLED AN “OPLATEK”. IT IS OUR “PEACE AND WISH” BREAD. WE ALL RECEIVE A WAFER AND THEN WE GO FROM PERSON TO PERSON, BREAKING OFF A SMALL PART AND WISHING THEM ALL THE BEST FOR THE COMING YEAR. WITH THIS THERE ARE TEARS AND MANY KISSES.

IT IS A WONDERFUL TRADITION THAT WILL BE PASSED ON TO OUR CHILDREN.
