Ah music and the holidays. At Christmas.com, we believe music is for sharing and as we’ve said on more than one occasion, the right Christmas Music can get you into that Christmas Spirit just about faster than anything else.
When asked to share her Christmas traditions, Carole Holden of Gainseville Florida, described the following window-rattling tradition:
I’m a natural early riser; my children are not. When I was a single Mom, waiting hours for them to get up on Christmas morning was excruciating! The solution was a compromise: they could sleep until 8:00. After that, I could wake them up. How did I wake them up? At promptly 8:00 on Christmas morning, a Mannheim Steamroller CD was inserted into the CD player, the volume cranked up, and when I hit Play, “Deck the Halls” darn near rattled the windows. The tradition continued when I remarried and a step-daughter was added to the mix. The kids are grown and have their own families now, but my husband and I still ‘officially’ start Christmas the same way (although we are no longer honor bound to wait until 8:00 to launch).
To this day, one daughter loathes Mannheim Steamroller to this day, but the other two kids have continued the tradition in their own homes with their own children!
