All in the Knotts Family

All in the Knotts Family

All in the Knotts family: Where do we start with this one? The Knotts family is a modern day example to me of a similar version of the story of Job in the Bible. We have known this family since 2001 when my husband became the 1SG of Joe's military unit. Joe has always been a dedicated hard worker going above and beyond the call of duty full of integrity and loyalty. Sarah has always had a heart of gold, always on call, ready to serve, volunteer, support, or whatever she could do, even with 5 children at the time. Now 5 more children later (that’s right, 10 children in all, ages ranging between a 21yr old college student to a 3yr old,) they are still the same. Despite everything they are going through, still they’re ready, willing and able to serve others with a smile on their face and a heart of gold! Some of the health attacks on their children include a rare syndrome called O. D.D.D. Syndrome (Oculodentodigital dysplasia,) injuries, surgeries, multiple physical therapies, hearing impairments of 3, severe Aplastic Anemia (bone marrow failure) on one, and now seizures with the youngest. In the middle of it all, Joe has been going through years of medical treatments as well for all the injuries sustained from his multiple tours of duty that began in 2003. Here is just a taste of their story… Joe Came into the Army in July of 1991, he served 3 tours in Iraq. During the last one in Apr 09, Joe was med evac’d back to Ft Hood and was assigned to the WTU (Warrior Transition Unit) Sept 2010. He was found fit for duty, by the medical board, after a long struggle to stay in until he reached retirement. His total time in service has finally reached 20+ years. The threat of being released now that he is at the 20 yr. mark, and due to the medical and financial hardships with nowhere to go, is still a great concern for him. I guess you could say, the military don’t appreciate all the personal medical battles they’ve had. If anyone deserves our support, it is this family who has sacrificed so much for everyone else despite their own battle to survive, and haven’t asked for anything but prayers and understanding. Just when you think surly it can’t get any worse they received another call, this time from Joe’s family located in South Carolina letting him know his father was in the hospital and it didn’t look good with several reports of cancer, severe infections, body shutting down and blood pressure dropping and so on… In the rushed attempt to get home before it was too late to say a final goodbye, they received another call on Aug 15th, to say “Dad is gone.” Joe wasn’t able to get there on time, again, due to the already over stressed financial burden that threatens to bury them. This is the second parent Joe was not able to get home to in time. His mother passed about 5 years ago as well. They have had some wonderful angels who have helped them through some of the journey in the past and they are extremely grateful for that. They don’t feel right asking for even more help although they have maxed out being able to take out any more loans due to all the hardships they’ve had to endure. So on their behalf, I am asking… Can we do it again? They need a break and a chance to catch their breaths. They still have a mountain of debt due to the medical, and so much more which I will share at a later time. Not to mention it’s time for back to school and we haven’t begun to take care of that little matter as well. The family was able to get enough money to get to SC but now they are again having much trouble. The trip down, the cost of the stay and family expenses of the funeral has again wiped them out. Now they don’t have enough to get back on. On top of that the AC went out & side panel door broke on the big van and they only have the front two windows for air. Joe’s leave is up and he needs to be home by this weekend so time is of the essence! The enemy has been hitting this family for over 10 years and hitting hard. Our Father shows us how to take care of one another, how to give cheerfully, lift one another up, and so on… What do you say??? Having seen the success of others, I thought putting a page together for them would be a great way we could all plant seeds of blessings for a very deserving family. Whatever you can do will help and be greatly appreciated. May God Bless you in advance. Thank you.
