Amy's Recovery Fund
Some of you have been wondering how you can help my sister, Amy Lewis. If you don't know her, here is a very short version of her story:Amy is a 36-year-old mother of two boys who has had liver disease for five years. The picture here is of Amy with her son Iain two years ago. She had already been sick for three years at that time, and was already showing outward physical signs of her illness even then. Amy finally received her liver transplant on August 13th, 2012. She's doing well, but now begins the long road to recovery.Amy will be in the hospital for at least a few more days, and then after that, she needs to stay in a hotel right next to the hospital for two weeks as she will need to check in there every day. We want to make these two weeks for Amy the most relaxing, worry-free experience possible. Believe it or not, one of Amy's concerns is for the person who will need to stay with her 24/7 during this 2-week period. It was important to Amy that this person have their own space, meaning that Amy would have a separate bedroom with a door. The best possible hotel for this situation is the Residence Inn near the hospital.I contacted the president of Marriott Hotels, and managed to get a great rate on the hotel Amy would like to stay at and some amazing people have already donated $1000 toward the cost of the two-week stay. Now we would like to cover the rest of the expense so Amy and her husband have no financial worries as far as the hotel is concerned. The remaining amount needed is $979.34. This will cover the rest of the cost of the hotel plus the 5% FundRazr fee and the 3% PayPal fee. This is not a life or death situation and this fund raising is in no means a way to guilt or pressure people into giving. It is just a way for people to give if they'd like to help take away some stress from Amy who has dealt with so much pain and sickness for so long. It's a way to help kickstart a great recovery process. My family and I will also be giving to this effort. The money will go into my PayPal account (Laura Booth, Amy's sister), and will then be transferred to the hotel cost. Thanks so much for reading this. If you can give money, great! But even more than that, we would love if you would pray for Amy and her family.
