Emerson Fink Colostomy Surgery-Road to Recovery
Emerson Fink was born on 08/4/2012 weighing a healthy 6lbs 7oz and 19.5 inches in length. Shortly after being sent home we started to notice things happening that did not seem normal for a thriving new infant. He was not eating as much as he should be and he was not passing stool on a regular basis causing him to drop weight quickly. After a week or so he started projectile vomiting any food that was digested and still no stool was being passed through. On August 13th Emerson started vomiting a neon yellow stomach acid and was rushed to Geisinger hospital where he had to have immediate surgery. He was opened up to find that he has 2 paper punch size holes in his large intestines leaking out a dangerous fluid into his little body. A biopsy had been done and he is diagnosed with Hirschsprung disease. In about 3 months or so he will undergo major surgery reconstructing his intestines to properly function with his anus allowing him to digest his food and pass stool correctly. Right now Emerson is in the NICU unit on the road to recovery, I ask for you to help Adam and Brittany Fink in any possible way that you can for their baby to overcome this and live a happy, healthy, normal life the way that he should be living it.
