Penny will soon be ready for adoption thanks to life-saving surgery and medicine. by the Humane Society of New YorkPenny, the 5 month old, 5 pound Pekinese Puppy, was brought to the Humane Society of New York after ingesting what we were told was “a couple of coins”. To be exact, after her surgery was over, we discovered a total of 21 coins in her stomach! The majority of the coins were pennies – which are the most dangerous for a dog, because they are poisonous and ultimately life-threatening. Penny is still recovering at the Humane Society of New York from the surgery and the coins that poisoned her, but she is on the way to a full recovery and then will be ready to be adopted to a home that will make sure that this never happens to Penny again!
