At the age of 36 I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma on July 20, 2012. Weeks later I was a confirmed carrier of the BRCA 1 gene mutation. The recommended method of treatment is bilateral mastectomy, removal of ovaries, five years of hormonal therapy, agressive chemotherapy and possibly radiation. I will miss a lot of work since I do have two jobs.
