Sarah (33) & Matthew (36) Whitaker live in Gainesville, FL, & have a 2 y.o. daughter named Olivia. Matthew has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer for which he is currently receiving chemo, and radiation treatment. He has also had several surgeries as some has spread to his lymph nodes. As a result of the debilitating treatment he could not continue work & was terminated. Sarah was also laid off from work, although she is in fact working full time caring for Matthew in his weakened condition, while also attempting to keep Olivia's life as normal as possible. Matthew has yet to be awarded disability, & they are nearly entirely out of funds. I don't know how they are managing with the added stress of money worries during so difficult a time. They are such lovely & good people, & their daughter Olivia is a bright light of joy---sweet-tempered, exuberant, adorable. My heart aches for their circumstances, which has led me to ask all of you for any financial support you can contribute---no small request, I know. Most of us are already burdened by our own respective financial constraints, but whatever amount you can spare ($5, $50, etc.), I know will be deeply appreciated by this couple & certainly put to good use.
