Raising 4 Riley
Riley Faith was born on March 1st 2012. She was diagnosed with a multitude of congenital heart defects including: Hypoplastic left heart syndrome, Double outlet right ventricle, Double inlet right ventricle, and a Ventricualr septic defect. In laymans terms, Riley's heart does not have the two ventricles pumping that a normal healthy heart have. She has only one ventricle pumping blood to her lungs and to all of her body. When a normal heart works the right atrium gets blood back from the superior and inferior veinicava. This blood is blue and is then pumped into the right bentricle before being pumped into the lungs via the pulmanary artary. The blood is oxygenated in the lungs and then returned to the left ventricle red and ready to be pumped into the body via the left ventricle, and the aorta. The two ventircles are seperated by the Ventricualr septum. Picture the middle piece of your nose. Riley heart has no partition so when her heart developed her aorta, and pulmanary artary basicly built over each other. When the oxygenated blood comes back to Riley's heart there is not seperaton of the ventricle's to keep the blue blood blue, and the red blood red. She is getitng mixed blood with every heart beat. There is a single ventricle repair that Riley is scheduled to have at the Children's hospital of Philadelphia in august. However my wife and I just learned that we will no longer have heath insurance at that time. We are not sure how we can afford such a proceudre. We are applying for state insuracne, but we are not sure how long that will take or if it will even cover our surgery. We started this page to see if we could raise the money to pay for Riley's new lease on life or to offset any thing not covered if we are able to get heath insuracne at the time, and to help with our transportaion and lodging in Philadelphia for the surgery and for the recovery period after the surgery as well as other expenses for her. Cindi and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your help, your prayers, and well wishes. We do not know how to thank all of you enough.
