Father Christmas

As some of you may know: our little sister Amy has recently been diagnosed with a form of blood cancer called Multiple Myeloma...Amy is a young, fabulous, super sweet single mom. Amy is 40 years old with a 13 year old son named Ben. They have such a wonderful bond together… Amy has always been a healthy girl, however, this year everything has changed. Back in January of 2012, Amy had a fall down some stairs which hurt her back and sprained her ankle. The ankle recovered fine, however the back, over time became more and more painful and by April 6, 2012, Amy was having great difficulty getting around, moving and walking and was taken to the emergency room. She ended up being admitted to the hospital and is actually still inpatient hospital today. Amy has been diagnosed with a form of cancer called multiple myeloma, which is not very common in young women. It is a cancer of the blood cells of the bone marrow and causes the bones to become very brittle and weak. This cancer has affected Amy’s spine, ribs, sternum and pelvis so far.Since Amy has been in the hospital, she has had many major complications including pneumonia with MRSA which spread to her blood stream and caused septic shock. Amy’s kidneys also failed. The only hope was to put her on life support and dialysis to give her body a chance to fight the infection. The next complication came when tumors developed on her spine, causing paralysis of her legs. She had surgery to try to relieve some of the pressure on her spine and now has feeling in her legs, but is not able to move them. All of these complications delayed her actual cancer treatment. She finally completed radiation and is currently receiving chemotherapy. She has also started rehabilitation to gain some of her strength back in her upper body. We are hoping her legs will come back too. Amy’s and her family’s goal is to get her back home to be with her son. With determination to provide for her son, Amy was able to obtain a mortgage to buy her own home, however, Amy’s disability pay hardly covers her household expenses, mortgage, car, and utilities, etc... At this time, we are asking for donations to help her meet goal of getting the best care to be able to go home. Her son and her home is her life…… The entire Jensen family, with heartfelt gratitude, would like to thank you in advance for all of the prayers, positive thoughts and support you can give... If Paypal is not an option for you, donations can be made to Amy L. Jensen, c/o Lisa Jensen Phillips 136 Neilson Road Wantage NJ 07461...Together. we can help make a big difference for Aim... Love and appreciation to all of you; Sincerely, The Jensens: Lisa, Christie, Jeff and Linda (Momma Jensen)
