Help Re-Build My Classroom Library!
THE BOTTOM LINE:Please help me so I can purchase new, updated young adult literature for my classroom library. My kids ASK for books because they're genuinely interested. And they know if anyone is going to find a way to get new and cool books, it's me. How can I say no?? That's where you come in. Please give what you can, because every little bit counts. I'll use the money to buy controversial and classic reads for my classroom library AND purchase classroom sets (if possible!!) on Amazon. I get requests by kids constantly.I live in North Park and relish the small business community here. I believe in putting my money into the community I live in. I've enjoyed supporting local art, music, restaurants, and boutiques. Linda Vista is my home away from home and I'm hoping you'll help me support my students there. SOME BACKGROUND:I teach at Montgomery Middle School in Linda Vista. Montgomery is an amazingly diverse school and I'm lucky to have been working within this community for almost four years. Students at Montgomery receive 100% free lunch and would technically fall under the low-income category. I teach GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) English classes to 7th and 8th grade students. Over the years, I have been fortunate to have been given a stipend to purchase books for my classroom library. This year and last, because of budget issues, I have not. I've continued to try to upkeep my classroom library by using my own money and ordering high-interest books online or trying to find them at the swap meet or thrift stores.New books continue to be written and kids don't seem to stop reading. Please help me provide literacy for kids who desperately need and desire it. Thank you for reading everything and helping me out, in any way possible. Even if you are just sharing this link.
