Loving Our Lynda

For all the people that know Lynda, they know that she is the first person in the room to crack a joke or break the ice. She has always had the gift of love for life and throughout the years made MANY friends along the way. Her infectious laugh and warm smile as well as her ability to make everyone feel comfortable around her, is one of the reason that everyone who meets her just loves her. Lynda has lived in the Norwich / New London area for all of her adult life. She graduated from NFA in 1986. Her family is very small, consisting of her mother, Dorothy Olander, her brother Henry ‘Buzz’ Olander, and his wife Lisa. Lynda and Jane have been the best of friends for more than 20 years.....living together as roommates in the early 90's and FINALLY getting together about 2 1/2 years ago and engaged to be married this past Christmas. Just when their lives seemed to be falling into place.....this horrible diagnosis was delivered. Together they have seen many ups and downs and have helped each other through them all ....and this is just one more thing to get through....TOGETHER. Lynda has worked hard her entire life… 23 years as an Engineer Technician at the Connecticut Water Company in Clinton CT.She is an active member of the American Pool Players Association (APA) since 2002, playing on 8-ball and 9-ball teams locally. She played 8-ball on a team from the Brown Derby and with that team won a trip to Las Vegas to play in the national championship in 2008. She also played 8-ball for the Poor House in Montville CT, and most recently out of the American Legion out of New London CT. She played on a 9-ball team out of Knights of Columbus in Taftville CT. With all of these teams, she played in many tournaments in Windsor CT at Big Shots.Prior to the APA, Lynda was an avid softball player, and took charge of the Charter Oak softball team. She made many friends in the New London softball league as well as many other local leagues.Aside from softball and pool, some of her other interests including camping, and just having a good time as well as making sure everyone around her does as well. She has been sick since June of 2011 with acute pancreatitis and every doctor said… NO CANCER… and then as the illness progressed, she had a 10 hour surgery to relieve the pressure on her pancreas and again, they said… NO CANCER. Now, because her pancreas is no longer inflamed, the cancer is making itself know, and the prognosis is not good but Lynda is going to fight, fight, and fight!!!She has helped many through some very rough times, and now it is our turn to help her get through this difficult battle. She is the most deserving person we can think of.We love you Lynda Olander! Xoxoxoxoxo
