The Freedom Project

After years of riding every type of manufactured skateboard in existence, I have decided it is time to create my own ‘Freedom Board’ what I would want in a skateboard for myself. As we become older certain parts of our bodies began to wear down and start to fall apart. Everyone knows from watching some of my television specials my upper body is starting to wear down and fall apart.I would like to continue to maintain my independent mobility with the use of a skateboard. Some may be asking yourself, “why not move on to something like a wheelchair, rascal or Sedge Way?’ If you have followed my story over the years you will know my personal feeling of retiring to a wheelchair and those who do not know my story. Well, a wheelchair and I have personal issues. The Rascal is a great idea if I were a full bodied person. For myself, a Rascal is possibly three times the size of me. The Sedge Way would be great if I were of average height. I find both of these great ideas of transportation enormous in size but perfect for the full bodied or average height person. Some may be saying, “ Gosh, your real picky!” I don’t think of myself as picky, I see myself as being realistic. I have used a skateboard all of my life, why would I stop using it now. Here are my visions in creating my Freedom Board. This is not your everyday normal skateboard but honestly nothing in my life has ever been normal. First it needs to be made of a light weight material, compact in size and durable enough to keep up with me. Second, it needs to be able to drive across different types of terrain, for example, gravel, grass, snow and sand to name a few. All terrain tires need to be created for different riding surfaces. Third, the surface of the skateboard or deck needs to be larger and comfortable with padding. My bottom half is a little larger than your average foot size and requires padding for comfort. Forth, the clearance (riding height) of the average skateboard of four inches needs to be taller. I need the clearance to be at least twice the height. Having a taller clearance will enable me to create a suspension for a smoother more comfortable ride. Say bye, bye, to the rough asphalt of "bump, bump, bump!"This gives you an idea of my vision and what it will take to create the Freedom Board. To take on any new project like the Freedom Board requires funding to offset the costs associated with the modificatons. Any donations big or small are all welcomed. Please help me make the Freedom Board a reality!Or mail me at: 1105 Claremont AvePueblo, CO 81004I thank you now for any donation you may give-Faithfully yours,Rose Siggins
