Coming Together For Cody

Wow- to think this whole fundraiser and page began for our little angel with his big personality and some pretty huge issues. We have traveled to Billings- Montana, Denver- Colorado and Milwaukee- Wisconsin, all to undergo various tests and procedures to try to piece together Cody's many diagnoses. Cody has been diagnosed with Delayed Gastric Emptying (Gastroparesis), Asthma (due to reflux), Reflux (due to Gastroparesis) and Oral Dysphagia. He has finally learned to chew and swallow- yay Cody! He is making great progress! The expenses of his many medical needs, travel and procedures that may be considered experimental are quickly mounting. Like so many other families, we have been drastically impacted by the economy. We had originally done a fundraiser on GiveForward.com, but had to close it in order to recieve the funds in time for our trip to the Motility Clinic at Wisconsin Children's Hospital in Milwaukee. We have still had requests from so many generous people about where and how they can donate, so we decided to continue the fundraising efforts right here on Facebook.Despite his many challenges, our Cody is a beautiful, healthy looking, energetic, happy miracle and we are so thankful for him every day!We then came to face the troubles of our oldest son. It was a huge blow on the heels of Cody's road to recovery. Jacob suffers from Severe Emotional Disturbance (basically a series of psychiatric diagnoses). For a long time he was managable at home and when he had his moments, they were great. He lit up rooms with his contagious smile, dazzled teachers with his amazing brilliant mind and was a shining star in our lives. As time went by he became more agitated and angry. It became dangerous to keep him in the home and we were forced to send him to a Therapeutic Group Home. He has been there for three months and made great strides! We see more and more of our charismatic son all the time but he is not quite ready to come home. His funding will soon run out and we are fighting hard to get funding for six weeks following his original release date. We only want to do this once and if that means he isn't a daily part of our lives for a bit longer- it is so worth it to know we'll be getting our happy boy back! You'd think that would be enough, huh? Nope. Brian (Dad) was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the end of January 2012. We never knew it could move so fast. In the matter of two short months he has become so ill that he was forced to leave work. We had moved near Jacob for less travel. Now we travel to our old home quite frequently for Brian's treatment. He will soon begin a new medication and we are praying so hard that it works for him. He needs to feel better and we need our old Brian back.Within 2 years we have traveled a rocky road. We went from an average family getting by, to a family full of special needs with absolutely no income at all. We most certainly have learned who truely loves us as we go through this difficult time- and despite all the hardships, we have been blessed with a sort of richness that not many experience. We hope you will pray for our amazing boys, and follow their progress right here on our Coming Together For Cody Facebook page. We pray that if you are going through something similar, you will reach out and that we can be of some comfort and support to each other! Those of you who have asked and those of you who feel moved to do so, are welcome to help financially right here. Those unable need not feel obligated in any way. Prayer and thoughts are so valuable to us during this time and we believe prayer works!http://www.facebook.com/pages/Coming-Together-For-Cody/162439313811338Show less
