Susan Martin Emergency Expenses Fund
In 2010 Susan was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. She spent lengthy stays in Florida Hospital with major surgeries in the fall and winter of 2010. At that time she lost entire colon/lg intestine to the illness and a "jpouch" (sort of an internal ostomy bag) was created. In June of 2012 the pouch became victim of an infection and and the small remaining piece of connective skin enflamed. After 4 months trying to get Sunshine State Health Care (a state medicaid hmo) to pay for the meds needed to treat the condition, she was forced to go to the ER on Sep 18. She was admitted and is still there. Because she has been unable to take the Joyas Jewelry stuff out to sell, money is needed to cover car insurance and tags which are now due, as well as payment on the storage where the rest of the personal items from the late Lee Swimmer are still in storage (she has been paying this bill since March 2012) . Meds which will be needed after being released from the hospital are the same ones SSHC will not pay for -- they will run about $900. Any donation large or small would really help. Susan does a lot for other folks and those who need benefits and it would be appreciated if ya'll would chip in a little something now when she needs it. There was a benefit for her back in 2010 which is why she does not want to trouble people with another. Those who donate will receive a piece of Joyas Jewelry or an accessory once Joyas is back out at the markets and shows.Much appreciate any help you may be compelled to offer. UPDATE: Now out of the hospital but still under a daily medical regimen at home. Now the insurance company is requiring Susan to go to a Pain Management Center before they will allow any further medicine for pain. The problem, the closest PMC they offer on their plan is in Deland FL, a round trip of over 90 miles. Apparently this trip has to be made each month for assessment to determine if pain medication is still warranted. Contributions for gas/transportation and other non-insurance covered incidentals are still welcomed.I thank you all SO much for your kindness and support through all this. Bless you all!
