For the Love of Ellie
Ellie is a very special dog. Our agency was recently doing temperment testing for new dogs for our service dog program and we happened to find Ellie, then named Deja-Vu. Ellie is a 10 month old labrador retriever. She was surrendered to a shelter in Hastings NE two months ago when her owner became ill and was no longer able to care for her. Ellie passed our test with flying colors. She loves to retrieve, she gets along well with other dogs, she likes cats, she wants to please, she is eager to try new things. We fell iin love with her. Unfortunatly Ellie has profound hip dysplasia in both hips and could not be placed in our service dog program. We have learned a lot about Ellie over the past month. She is house trained. She is calm indoors and playful outside. She loves to chew anything in sight. LOL.Ellie has already incurred over $500 in vet expenses to determine the extent of her disability. She will require complete hip replacement of both hips at the age of two in order to live a normal life without extreme pain. She is already on daily pain medication and suppliments to ease her daily suffering until surgery can be accomplished. This dog deserves a chance at life, not just a place to live until her hips give out completley. We are making preperations to have her damaged hips operated on and repaired so that she can live a normal pain free life. Our hope is that Ellie can become a beacon of good will and hope for children who struggle. We plan to train her as a therapy dog, and reading pup. Allowing children with learning disabilities to interact with Ellie the dog that overcame great odds. The cost for such surgery is very high, and we are willing to make the necessary sacrifices for this very special dog, that has already inspired hearts. We are seeking your help. Your donations in any amount will make this journey financially easier for us to secure a healthly life for Ellie.
