New Lung Fundraiser
It was in March of 1993 when Robert Wentworth, long time Michigan resident, risked his life going into the killing fields of Bosnia to rescue his wife’s mother and sister from probable death or capture at the hands of invading Serbs. After trying and failing to enlist support from the American government and all other agencies, Robert and three others, against all odds infiltrated Bosnia and brought both women to the safety of Western Europe. Eventually they were granted permission to enter and live in the U.S. Today, 20 years later, Robert is waging a different kind of battle of his own. In April of 2010 he was diagnosed with IPF, a chronic lung disease that has already robbed him of 70% of his lung function. The IPF is progressing significantly, and without a lung transplant Robert faces certain death, possibly in a matter of months or even weeks. The University of Michigan has placed him on their lung transplant list, but he needs help with the ever mounting medical costs, such as deductibles, co pays, hospital stays, home care, and drugs. Robert is a 10 year military veteran having honorably served both Air Force and Army, and is retired from General Motors after 29 years, with a partial pension. After risking his life to save others, he now needs your help in saving his own in this final battle. Please give if you feel that you can help Robert Wentworth in his struggle against this terrible disease. Your prayers and any financial assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thankyou for your consideration.
