This young Hound was recently found by a family in Alamo, Ga. SoCo Rescue was contacted and asked to help get "Alamo Joe" whatever vet care he would need as well as finding him a new home. Once at our vet's office, it was determined that some sort of trap had caught Alamo Joe's left front ankle, breaking it in the process. In addition to the break, the muscles in his leg have drawn up and seized, rendering the leg useless but obviously causing Alamo Joe much pain. Our vet tried to save his leg, but could not even get it to straighten out. Our vet recommended amputating the leg to end Alamo Joe's suffering. Once presented with the prognosis, SoCo Rescue did not hesitate in giving the go ahead for surgery.Alamo Joe will recover just find and should go on to live a somewhat normal life. SoCo Rescue has already found him a new home, one that will continue to provide him with the love and care that he will need in the future.Alamo Joe's surgery, meds and aftercare will cost SoCo Rescue a total of $350. As you can see in the attached picture, taken on Sept. 12, Alamo Joe has had his surgery and will now begin his recovery.
