Support Sarak's Journey to Recovery
On Saturday, August 18th, Sarak played in a basketball tournament held at the Minneapolis YWCA. He led his team to the finals, and with just a few minutes remaining in the game, Sarak called time out. Shortly after making it back to the bench, he experienced difficulty breathing and suddenly collapsed. Sadly, no one onsite knew how to perform CPR, including the staff members. This created unfortunate delays in receiving immediate medical attention. According to eyewitnesses, paramedics arrived between 7-10 minutes after getting the initial call. Multiple attempts were made to resuscitate him... it wasn't until the third shock that his heart began beating again. That was just begining of his journey...He was admitted into the Medical ICU under a comatose state while a team of doctors diligently worked to do everything possible to bring him back. As each day came and went, the prognosis for recovery got dimmer and dimmer. The doctors gave him less than a 1% chance of recovery and started to prepare Sarak's family and friends for the worst. Thankfully, those who know him best, know the strength and determination that fuel him and never once gave up hope! On the 12th day, a miracle was in the making as Sarak started to come out of his coma and began breathing on his own shortly thereafter! He has defied all odds and has been given another opportunity to make his mark on this world. The strides he has already made are nothing short of amazing, but he still faces a long journey to recovery. Join us in showing your love and support! Our contributions will allow Sarak focus his energy on rehabilitation. Any remaining funds will be channeled to support education development in his home country of Cambodia, a project Sarak has diligently supported.
