Send Ming Ming Home -> Off the Street Fund

This is my friend, Ming Ming Powers (57), from Hong Kong, who lives on the streets in Tucson. When I met her she was covered in sores, her own blood, and (due to blindness) she was sitting in ants, who were after the sores. We found her there moments after praying that God would send us to whomever was crying out for His help; that we would bring His love and serve Him. To be frank, she was a horrifying site when I met her. Since then, there has been physical healing to her sight and sores. Now she needs an advocate who can help her get out of this situation permanently. That is where we come in. After listening to all her needs she (and I) believe that the most practical way to help her is to send her back to Hong Kong. Here, she is extremely trepidatious and afraid of group homes, homeless shelters, and even government welfare. Ming Ming abstains from almost every form of western medicine, drugs and alcohol, and unfortunately she often abstains from the nourishment a daily meal. A combination of fear, cultural pride, language barrier, near blindness, and her counter-cultural belief system have locked her into her situation, without help and without hope. However, she is VERY well educated and multi-talented, with a long, diverse history of high paying careers. She has a very hard story, one that begins full of excitement and success but ends full of tragedy and heartache. She has several things on her mind that she wants help with: to 1) help her get back to Hong Kong, 2) investigate and create public awareness of her baby daughter's kidnapping in 1994, and 3) investigate and create public awareness of an identity theft racket victimizing unknown numbers of American SSI recipients. This fund focuses on returning her to Hong Kong where she will be back in her element, surrounded by support systems that fit well with her cultural expectations. I will purchase the plane ticket, and document her departure, etc by video and post the proof of purchase at BringLove.org/advocate/MingMing at the time this cause becomes fully funded. This fund covers the cost of a round trip ticket from Tucson to Hong Kong and back, with a three week layover in an affordable hotel, and also includes $3,000 cash for international travel considerations, food, and presentable clothing. The fund also includes the fees required to host a "FundRazr" through PayPal. All this will allow Ming Ming to shower up, clean her clothes, dress with dignity, fly to Hong Kong, and provide her shelter there long enough to get the help she seeks. Aside from friends and family there, as a former constable of the Hong Kong Police Department, she strongly believes that she will be able to utilize her veteran status there to open a serious international investigation of the kidnapping of her daughter. These are her wishes. She requested that we create a place like this on the internet where host a video about the situation she is in and invite people to help her. If we manage to get her back to Hong Kong because of all this, it will literally mean the world to Ming Ming, who will certainly not survive for long living on our unfriendly streets in her condition. If all goes well, she will find accommodations and go about the business of investigating these issues with the support of her friends and family. If for some unforeseen reason things do not go well in Hong Kong, she will have the liberty and freedom to return to the U.S. on the roundtrip flight without spending a single night on the streets of Hong Kong. After a few visits with her to some Chinese establishments, here in Tucson I can easily see that she is revered by her own culture, well respected, taken seriously, and honored. But in all the normal American establishments she is immediately tagged as a crazy old homeless woman. I believe that she will find a variety of solutions in her native culture that are otherwise not an option here in the U.S. To show my support, I am covering half the cost of the fees associated with this fundraiser (50% of 8% is about $225). Please join me in caring for this poor, helpless woman as she strives to survive without anyone else to care for her. Let us show her the love of Jesus and work to be sure she doesn't die on the streets unloved. Please help me help my friend. In Jesus' name,John Hadwin520-237-2538
