Mellyn's new kidney
My aunt, Noemi "Mellyn" Gutierrez, has been battling Wegener's granulomatosis for about 19 years now. This is a type of inflammation and injury to blood vessels (vasculitis) that affects several organs, including the kidneys. She has been brave beyond words and although she has suffered thru many surgeries and medicines with horrible side effects throughout the years, she still remains strong. Unfortunately, her kidneys have failed and she is in need of a kidney transplant. She currently undergoes dialysis 3 times per week for 4 hours each visit just so she can feel a little better. She has been lucky enough to have a twin sister, my mother, Uchin Gutierrez, who is a perfect match and will be donating her kidney to improve my aunt’s quality of life. All medical costs will be covered under my aunt’s health insurance with the exception of three tests which my mom has to undergo that cannot be covered under my aunt’s health insurance and my mother is without health insurance at this time. My mother also lives paycheck to paycheck and will need to be out of work for 4-6 weeks while she herself recovers from the surgery to remove her kidney. Her job does not provide sick pay and therefore will not be able to pay her bills for this time frame. We have a big family and hope that we can all come together and make this happen. We understand that not everyone may be in the position to help monetarily and if this is the case you can help by spreading the word to those who can help. Anything that you can give will help. You may donate either thru PayPal or deposit directly into a Bank of America account. Thank you so much for everyones help!
